I don't know about where you are, but here in Lorraine, we're back to frost, fog, and the first sub-freezing temperatures. And Christmas is fast approaching.
In our family, as in many others, we don’t mess around when it comes to the Christmas tree.
Ever since we heard that those beautiful trees—which bring me so much joy every winter—are now on sale, I have to admit, I’ve been itching to get one. It’s earlier than usual this year. I must be feeling a little stressed, or maybe I just want to escape reality more than usual, at least for a little while. But why on earth… ???
Even under normal circumstances, at my house, there’s always a tug-of-war between the overwhelming urge to unpack my boxes of treasures and decorate my tree—preferably a tall, crooked one—right here, right now, or let’s say by December 6th, Saint Nicholas Day, in the Lorraine tradition, and the equally strong urge to wait… just like when I was little, on Christmas Eve, to go find the biggest tree possible—the one nobody wanted because it wouldn’t fit in any normal house—in the Alsatian tradition of my family.
So this year, to pass the time, Laurent and I went into the forest—since we’re lucky enough to have a forest within our permitted area—and gathered enough materials to make some beautiful wreaths. And thanks to that, we’ll wait a little while before putting up the Christmas tree, decorating the front door first!
And in a few days, we’ll be able to rummage through a little bag from our brand-new advent calendar every morning—that’ll help pass the time, too!
So thank you to Lydie and Sylvie, thanks to whom I sewed a second version of the calendar so they could each have one, even though the first version was sold out! By the way, a big thank you to everyone who loved the first version 😉
If you're feeling tempted, we still have a few calendar kits left here—there's still time!
This year, our Christmas tree will also feature some new additions to keep the whole family company: felt characters.
Laurent and I have designed a whole collection of ready-to-sew Christmas decorations for you—from Christmas trees to hot air balloons—available in three different color schemes.
And since we have some really creative friends, we’re sharing Marie-Colette’s version, who turned the little hanging tree into a table decoration. And it’s so cute! (Well, that’s just my opinion…).

See you soon, stay warm!
Bénédicte

This calendar is so cute!!! Thanks for the lovely newsletter—I love the photos!
Thanks, Charlotte! So pretty, so sweet, so tender—it’s like Mary Poppins’ sugar cube; it really cheers you up 🙂
Always so optimistic, my dear Bene—I have to say I’m itching to get started too
I’m itching to put up a Christmas tree, and at our house, the girls were always looking for the biggest, widest one that took up a third of the living room… and the cats loved it too!!!!
Kudos to Marie Co for her decor; I’ve been thinking about her these past few days regarding the felt St. Nicholas accompanied by his donkey—I’ve decided to make a larger version of it
But I don’t think it’ll be finished by the 6th; no big deal, it’ll be for later
Hugs to both of you
