What you've been eagerly awaiting!

The sun is shining, shining, shining… well, almost every day! It really feels like the long-awaited vacation season! So before we head off on a trip from June 15 to 30, we’re tidying up, sorting through things, and taking a little time to finally tackle a project we’ve been putting off for months—or even years—an idea that actually came about through our interactions with you at various trade shows.

One day, a customer asked me:

Her: “Don’t you have any end-of-line stock, ‘second-choice’ items, things with minor flaws, or prototypes that have reached the end of their useful life? Old patchwork or embroidery designs, and all that stuff???”

Me: “Uh, yeah, why?”

She: “I like to treat myself to surprise gift sets every now and then. Some brands do this—it’s kind of like Christmas, a surprise, but with a theme I’ve chosen myself. You know what I mean?”

Me: “Um… yeah, I see, I see…”

Someone else, at a different location, asked me pretty much the same question, and then it came up quite often as conversations unfolded and I moved from one trade show to another.

The problem, as is often the case, is time. It’s impossible to create a “real section” on the website; to do that, we’d need someone dedicated exclusively to the site, and we don’t have that… It’s also impossible to do this during the “school year”—between September and May, we’re running around all the time. So we had to find the right idea, the right approach… Maybe I’ve managed to do it: let me know what you think!

I’m currently putting together 50 surprise bags—not one more, not one less; each one is unique, and each contains about €150 worth of assorted treasures. I’m offering them all for a single price of €50.

Velvet fabric swatches, of course: large ones, small ones, medium ones—covering all the themes we’ve designed with Laurent over the past few years. None of them have any major flaws, of course!

So, the ABCDaires surprise pouches are available for pre-order on our website until June 30! Orders will ship during the first week of July, once we’re back from vacation.

Well, there you go—I’m having a blast putting these together. I’m rediscovering things I’d forgotten, and reminiscing about all those good times at the store, the patchwork and embroidery classes, and the open houses!
